That's why I eat almonds that haven't been roasted. I can measure out and eat the plain ones without thinking about taking more. I looked at the smoked ones... nope, wasn't going to stick with a single serving. I've done pretty well with the dry-roasted soy nuts. A little lighter on the cals (134 an ounce) and higher on the protein. However, I do have to watch myself with them.

Hey Anne-

I'm glad you got me to try the soy nuts. I haven't bought any lately, but they are tasty! And they are definitely lighter on calories. I love nuts, but I hate being hungry and I have to balance out treats with volume.

I didn't get my walk in last night, but I did go to sleep at a reasonable hour, which seemed like the best choice. We went to Cosco and bought a bunch of stuff, including a lot of frozen things. I love to cook, but I am just stressing myself out too much about having a freshly prepared meal every night. Last night I didn't get dinner on until 7:30, which led to picking at stuff and not getting to eat my whole planned portion of dinner. We got these breaded panko tilapia fillets that looked good and easy. I told Shawn they are fish sticks for grown-ups.

Today: 152.0

Food plan: 1500 cal day, martial arts class after work

Breakfast: oatmeal w/brown sugar and strawberries

Snacks: 1 cup cottage cheese, 2 slices peaches, 33g mixed nuts divided for morning and afternoon snacks

Lunch: salad w/leftover steak and grilled potatoes and sweet potatoes, tomatoes, homemade balsamic dressing

Dinner: black bean burger w/1/2 oz cheddar cheese, 100g cauliflower

Evening snack: 166g watermelon

I don't do a lot of soy products because I figure since Soy has a phytoestrogen in it, it would potentially screw up hormone balances even further and I am trying to fix that.

Hey Paula-
That's one reason I stopped eating all those morningstar farms products. But, I decided I really like the black bean burgers and I want to let them back in my life.

Thanks Pauline!

OMG, what a weekend. Friday morning we got up early to go get the kids and their friends to go to Kennywood. After about three hours in the car we were almost there when we got stuck in traffic and my car started to overheat. I shut it off and something blew up under the hood and a whole bunch of steam and hot water started coming out. I was hoping it was just a hose, but no, the whole radiator had blown up. So, we left it parked on the street and all hopped in Shawn's car to go to the park. We had a fun time and I didn't get too nauseous. We stayed until they closed at 11 and got home at 12:30. I felt bad about my car because all four kids were crammed in the back.

Saturday we got the kids up and went to the waterpark. It was a really nice day, but that made it really crowded. His daughters were arguing non-stop, which he didn't have to listen to because he rode his motorcycle and I drove his car so we would have enough seatbelts for all the kids. Once we got there we turned them loose and told them what time to meet up again to eat lunch. We went on a couple slides, but the lines were so long we ended up just hanging out by the bar pool most of the time. I managed to burn my shoulder to a crisp, despite putting on a lot of sunblock. I guess I needed to reapply. Both days I packed all my own food, which seemed like it was tastier than all the greasy fried stuff at the parks. I did feel sad about corn dogs, ice cream, and especially funnel cake. It made me realize that my whole life everything has been about the food, which seems pretty pathetic. On a happy note, I did feel great walking around in my bathing suit, not self-conscious like in the past. Shawn kept telling me I looked fantastic and that everyone was staring at my abs. He was probably exagerating, but still, it was sweet.

Saturday night we were pretty wiped out by the time we got home, but I couldn't fall asleep because I wanted to have an idea what the kids were doing. Luckily no one smoked in my house, although they had gone outside, but whatever. Around 1AM I told them to log off the computer and go to bed, which they did.

Sunday they got up around noon. We told them we would take them to the mall for a couple hours before taking them home, but there was a little snag in that plan. When Shawn's older daughter woke up she told him she had a rash on the back of her neck and her head was itchy. Sure enough - head lice! Then his younger daughter started sobbing that she never should have let her sister use her brush and then more bs started. Shawn went down to Rite Aid while I cooked breakfast and then everyone washed their hair.

We finally dropped them off at the mall and went to TGI Fridays for a couple beers. I stayed in my calories for the day, but nutritionally, it was not too impressive. After we picked them up and fed them, Shawn headed out to take them all home and I started washing laundry and vacuuming.

I did manage to get in a nice long walk on a trail by my house and I did my weight lifting. I was vacuuming the couch during my rests between sets.

Today being back at work seems very restful.

Today's plan:

152.0, 1500 cal day

Breakfast: oatmeal w/strawberries & brown sugar, 1/2 serving mixed nuts

Snacks: 1 cup cottage cheese and 1 cup blueberries split between two snacks

Lunch: salad w/mixed greens, chicken breast, baked fries, bacon, homemade vinaigrette dressing

Dinner: barbecued chicken thigh (7 oz), roasted parmesan asparagus

I am hoping to go to martial arts, but we might have to just crash to recover from the weekend!

I am doubting that he was exaggerating. I would have been one staring at your abs. LOL

What a weekend! I'll bet work does seem restful, I know there are plenty of Mondays that feel that way for me.

You are doing great, Leah.

Wow - what a weekend! I'm glad you managed to have fun and not let the "blips" mess everything up for you. Lice - ewwwww!

Awesome compliment on the abs - and I think it was true too - I know if I see a gorgeous fit woman in a bikini I look - inspires me to keep working on my own body!

Leah - Thanks for stopping by my log. I only read your most recent post about the trip with the kids and man, you did an exceptional job considering all the temptation, drama with the car and kids, etc. Had that been me, I would have drowned my sorrows (or made up some sorrows to justify) in a powdered sugar covered funnel cake. Fried anything is my kryptonite So well done....

Thanks Donna-
I am big on drowning my sorrows in food, but I'm trying to change. I may yet have a funnel cake this summer, but not right now.

Thanks Stephanie! I wanted all that stuff pretty bad, but I figured I would save it for a bit later. I feel like I'm on a roll right now that I don't want to mess up.
