I'm glad you guys like it.
Today:
162.4 25% BF
Food plan:
Breakfast: omelet w/feta, spinach, and bacon
Morning snack: a few leftover meatballs, broccoli, string cheese
Lunch: leftover chicken stir-fry - I like this recipe, the peanut sauce really adds something. But, usually I thicken stir-fry sauces with cornstarch, so it seemed very thin.
Afternoon snack: a few more meatballs and more broccoli
Dinner: almond crusted chicken, green beans, leftover butternut squash and onions
I am struggling again with picking at nuts and peanut butter, which I think is why my weight is up. I have so much trouble with portion control! There is so much food in the house I am not supposed to eat and I don't touch it, but if you tell me I can only have a little, I eat a lot. I haven't had any nuts today and I am going to limit myself to what is in the recipe for dinner. I really want some good results for this weekend's stats and pics.
Since my four weeks are up on plan A, I'm going to switch to plan D, which will give me carbs in my shakes and a full carb day per week. I am lifting on Wednesday and I am pretty excited about adding my milk and fruit back to my shakes! Instead of doing my carb day Sundays, I am doing Mondays, so I still have a whole week to wait, but its not so far off!

Leah, I am looking at your workouts and thinking how strong you are! I keep considering trying NROL after NROL4W and you might just push me over the edge.
LOL at your possible comments to the grocery store guy. Great title!
And, I sympathize with you on the deer problem. I have planned all my flowerbeds to have "deer-resistant" flowers, but I am still just ticked that the deer really eat anything if they're hungry enough. I've started researching methods to keep them out and I just hope something will work.

I used to be really bad with soy nuts and really any kind of nut in general. I'd buy a bag, take out a reasonable portion and then go back and take more, until the bag was finished. Or so close that I'd figure I might as well finish it. I know, very bad reasoning skills.
What I do now is measure out a portion of almonds and soy nuts just after I've finished dinner. I have two small containers that when half full are about an ounce (although I always weigh them). The big amounts are only opened at that time to refill what I've eaten during the day. They're slightly less convenient than the small containers. It's much easier to refill them when I'm not hungry. If I was trying to measure out a portion as a snack I know I'd be far more likely to eat 'just a few' more.
On the peanut butter I can't help you, although I have put it at the back of the fridge. It wasn't ever really a problem for me though.

Karen you should try NROL. I love it! I think I'll feel a little sad once I've finished all the programs. Then I'm going to do NROL4W.
We tried all sorts of things for the deer, but they never work for very long. I sprayed this nasty smelling onion/garlic spray I got at Home Depot. Shawn likes his head shaved in the summer, so we put down his hair around the garden, but that stopped working after it would rain. I suppose the smell went away.

Hey Anne - I like that idea a lot. I would only touch them at my strongest moment, when I just finished dinner. I did great yesterday - no picking!

Well sometimes, but only if I'm in the right mood. I generally feel too guilty afterwards. The other day I was in Sheetz waiting to pay and this old lady cut in front of me and I stared her down until she was like, oh I didn't realize there was a line and went to the back. I felt like a really mean person after that. After all, someday I'll be old and confused too right?

You did very good babe. I was hollering. The old lady one killed me too. You are just really hitting my funny bone.
I caught that Tillamook cheddar -- I love their cheese & sour cream. Stay strong on the nuts (easy for me to say, I'm allergic so they don't appeal to me in the least bit ).

I think we all do this, Leah........It's what helps us cope so we don't unleash on our significant others.......lol
I generally am good with people in public, meaning I have a lot more patience.........BUT.........p ut me in a car behind a slow driver and I'm !
I once was so mad at a veryyyyyyy slowwwwwwww driver in front of me for about 5 miles (thankfully was only saying things under my breath). The car then turned up one of the streets that I usually do to get home, then another street and finally MY street. I came to realize that SHE WAS MY NEIGHBOR!!!! OMG, I was never so thankful for not beeping or doing something like that. It sure taught me a lesson because I've been much better ever since......lol

Jane that dog is so cute! It makes me smile every time I see that picture. I was debating on which plan. Plan B would have been my choice if I lived alone but Shawn started asking how many days until I can have carbs. I figured usually when I am talking about my diet he is probably tuning it all out and just nodding along, so if he's actually listening that means he's disgruntled but trying not to say it.

I can see the mean face at work!! Yeah!!! That's what Shawn always tells me - if you're not mean sometimes, people just walk all over you.

Yeah, that would have sucked if you flipped the bird to your neighbor.
Today:

Last night's class was pretty cool. We did a similar warmup with footwork, jabs, crosses and kicks, pushups and crunches. Then we worked on some of the stick patterns from last time. Finally, we got into some dagger work! That was pretty cool.
This morning's workout:
Hyp II A4, 5x6, 90 sec rest
Barbell reverse-grip bent-over row supersetted w/barbell bench press
80/6 80/6
80/6 80/6

Wide-grip cable seated row supersetted w/dumbbell incline bench w/palms facing in
100/6 30's/6
100/6 30's/6
100/6 30's/5
100/6 25's/6
100/6 25's/6
Dips - went back to the dip station since I was able to do the 12-rep sets of dips between benches fairly easily
BW/6
BW/5
BW/4
BW/5
BW/5 - I still was not bending my elbows anywhere near 90 degrees, but I think I am seeing an improvement
Swiss ball crunch

I hear you. Nuts are an issue for me as well if I'm left to my own devices. We have a kitchen scale (and if you don't have one, I highly recommend getting one!) so I weigh 1oz of nuts in the morning, put them in a snack baggie, and take them to work with me. It works - I 2nd the recommendation to portion out the nuts & resist the temptation to go back for more.

I bet you looked so suave!
I moved to plan C two weeks ago & had a carb day and had blueberries & cottage cheese & protein powder. divine!!!! And then I had kiwis and cottage cheese later. Again, heavenly. I didn't realize how much I'd missed eating cottage cheese + fruit. I haven't had a carb day since (essentially moved back to plan A) but we're going to Precision Nutrition in a couple of weeks & I'm really looking forward to cottage cheese & fruit.

My first carb day will be Monday. I will definitely have to have some cottage cheese on hand for the occassion! I've been putting strawberries in Shawn's lunch and I usually slice them for him and I want one so bad! Soon ...

159.8 25% BF
Food:
Breakfast: leftover salmon fillet, roasted butternut squash and onions
Morning snack: cherry tomatoes and string cheese
Lunch: leftover almond crusted chicken and cheese, roast beef, lettuce, and tomato
Afternoon: spinach salad w/bacon, tomatoes, turkey, cheddar, and blue cheese dressing - damn was this good!
Not sure what's for dinner. I think Shawn wants to go somewhere and watch the hockey game, so probably a steak and veggies.
Today I went to a really cool fire training at the community college. They had about ten different stations set up and different groups, including vo-tech high school kids, were doing different exercises. Our group did three. The first one was to go into a dark, smoke filled building and find the rescue dummy and remove him from the building. The second drill was to put on our Hazmat suits and contain a spill from a railcar.
The third part, after lunch, was the best. They had a railcar set up on a track with a whole bunch of propane lines that the instructor could control from a manifold. First, they set the dome on fire, so we had to spray water at it while two people climbed on the car, opened the dome and put the fire out. We did it about a dozen times with everyone taking turns on different roles. Then, they set the entire track and car on fire and we had to put out the part on the tracks with foam, then extinguish the stream running down the side of the car with dry chemical extinguishers, then position a ladder on the side of the car and pound a wedge into the hole. Even though I knew the instructor was controlling it, it was kind of scary because it made a really big, hot fire! This drill was the most physically demanding, but I think I liked it the best because of the big fire and the fact that we did it without breathing air, unlike the first two drills.
I ended the day getting home early and soaking in the tub!
