And this stinking diastasis symphysis pubis sucks. Bad. More happy reading here about pelvic girdle pain. I get it every time but it seems to be hitting me worse this time. Bah.
I'm so sorry you're struggling with this! I had this with Jack. To me it's way more painful than the SI joint issues I had. It's enough to send a person over the edge!

So I've come to share my own story here b/c I thought that you'd appreciate it!
Nov 26 08 -- last period started
Dec 1 08 -- Should start new pack o' pills, but RL says he'd (FINALLY, he was almost too late) like to go for #3, so I don't start pills
Jan 1 09 -- Pregnancy test is positive. What the heck happened two three months after the pill?
Feb 3 09 -- First midwife appointment. 10 weeks gestational age and Sept 2 due date confirmed. Baby seen on the monitor waving to us!
Thank goodness contraception works for us, but it without it: WATCHOUT!
Contractions have picked way, way up again, getting pretty serious, regular, and frequent. *sigh* If this continues for an entire month, I'm going to be completely looney.
So, sorry about the stupid question. But if they're getting serious, regular and frequent... how do you tell when it's real labour?

You crack me up I enjoy your log. I'm sorry you're in pain right now doesn't sound like fun.
I know what you mean about doing the challenge for the motivation etc but I think being preggo shouldn't disqualify you. I don't have a problem with you staying in as is. I think people will take appropriate circumstances into account. Were you part of any others? You could always use your prepregnancy stats or ask people to judge depending on where you're starting 6 weeks later. I'm sure there's lots of options that would make the judging fair and you could still be a part of it.
Anyway hope the last few weeks go well for you.
Oh, and I admire anyone who can homeschool. Not something I could do.

Thanks for this (welcome) dose of birth control, Diane!
I hope things get better. I think you look fabulous.

Congrats! I have a two co-workers due that same week.
Diane, hope you are hanging in there. Only a month left, right? Maybe the little one will want to come meet you early

Thanks for the sympathy, all. I was having a bad day yesterday between my danged exploding crotch and contractions that just wouldn't be controlled so I sat here on my butt all day, not able to accomplish much of anything, and getting more and more annoyed by the hour. Eventually, whinage took over.
My treadmill waddling has been getting slower and slower and slower... My bodyweight exercise attempts have been getting lamer and lamer and lamer... I may just force myself into no workouts until post-birth because, really, they're so NOT workouts at this point, just incredibly pathetic attempts to pretend to do something worthwhile. *sigh*
And, yeah, I did think of the birth control potential of it which is why I linked to basic descriptions for those interested. LOL

That is soooooooo cool!!!!!!! About a month ago, I was reading some random post by you somewhere and the though struck me that you just had to be pregnant (nothing to do with your post, just an odd thought). Just call me Miss Cleo!

Congrats!
Thanks! Dang if I've ever been able to find or come up with a definitive answer to that. There's Braxton-Hicks contractions, "false" labor, prodromal labor, "real" labor -- and all of the different phases & stages of that. Truly, they all are "real" and are preparing the body and advancing things but I get what you're saying, believe me. It drives me crazy to have incredibly strong, breathtaking contractions a couple of minutes apart for hours or days and not know if it means baby's coming today or it's going to go on for weeks still. Argh. Yeah, it's all doing something that needs done but, dang it, at least I could get the excitement if I knew it was coming sooner rather than later. LOL
Possible TMI: With all of my pregnancies, including this one now, I go through this extended start up crap. The heavy, frequent, regular contractions. Losing my plug weeks before. Effacing and dilating nice & early. And so on for sometimes weeks on end. And no baby. Then, each time, my water breaks between 4 and 5 in the morning and baby comes out 1-3 hours later. Boom. (Except the first one -- he was stubborn and took forfreakingever.)
And, FYI so you won't be shocked or wondering what the heck is wrong with me when the time comes: We're DYI birthers. No hospitals, docs, or midwives. Just me, hubby, and the kids relaxing here at home. (Should anything ever go wrong, we would not hesitate to scurry along to the hospital, of course.) I had my firstborn in the hospital the normal way but have enjoyed the rest here at home by ourselves -- much nicer. So, that pre-explains some eyebrow raising timing you may notice later on.

Redwifey my congrats to you also.
Yep, I was part of the first challenge of 2008, did pretty good, and learned a buttload. That's why I wanted to be sure to get in on this one so I didn't waste a few post-baby months waiting for the second half challenge to pop up. Good points about asking folks to just consider my judging from a more reasonable point than my giant January start. I'll think it over but, really, I don't give a rat's butt about "winning" any of the challenges. It's the experience of the journey I love -- as I assume it is for all of us.
Now when & where's the party for RW because we need to celebrate!!!

Congratulations, Jamie! LOL on the 3 months after the pill--they lie ! My first pregnancy occured while I was on the pill--yes, I had some problems with that pill, but docs assured me it was working anyway. The second was as soon as I stopped taking a different pill that had worked for 3 years. I say a little prayer of thanks every month now that the tubal ligation has continued to work these last 9 years .

That made me think of when my son was little and I lost my voice. I was yelling at the dog and my son, my husband, and my neighbors were laughing uncontrollably while I just got more and more mad !

Well, good news is that you're already at the point where the risk is far less for problems for the baby.

I agree with that. I figure success in the challenge is about accomplishing my own goals and not so much about winning.

I totally agree on the not caring about winning I'm in the same boat. But it would be nice to see your progress at the end if you're still in.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is so so cool! You two make such cute babies, you need a couple more (or at least one!) I know what you mean about the fertility issue. My oldest was conceived the first month I decided to go off the pill, when dh was in the army and only home for ONE day. #2 was, well, the pill and antibiotics don't mix, #3 was the other 5% of a 95% effective diaphragm + spermicide + more spermicide just in case, and hey, #4 was actually planned, just so we felt like we had some control!! Way way TMI, but hey, it's funny, right? Right?

So, after some thinking today about my increasingly lame "workouts", I've decided to just ditch them completely for now. I can get more of a workout just doing things that need done and laying off the self-pressure and guilt about the official workouts. With that in mind (and feeling a bit better today as contractions lightened up a bit), I headed outside and got in some gardening for an hour or so, gently so as to not unzip up the middle. LOL I spaded about half of the wellhouse garden where I grow our greens since it needs to be planted, did some additional weeding of another section, transplanted some stray garlic bulbils, and cleaned up a few overgrown tomato cages from last year. And the normal housework, of course, throughout the day.
Oh, a couple of weeks ago, I moved half of the kids to the opposite corner of the house. Okay, not the kids but their desk areas. Now I'm constantly back and forth, back and forth, between the two areas. Good for more movement but I feel like a ping pong ball. "Mom!" from one corner. "Mom!" from the opposite corner. Back and forth all day.

Agreed. One of mine was 6 weeks early and another was 4 weeks early. Both were fine and needed no medical assistance. Some buns just cook more quickly than others.

I won't disappear, I promise. I'll still be here and posting update pics, etc. Just the end-of-challenge voting I may hide out from.

I'd have to rent some serious courage to walk into a hospital willingly. LOL All sorts of issues popped up with the one I did have with a doc -- almost all boiled down to me being tense as could be because I'm so not a people person. I came within minutes of being wheeled out for a C-section and I kicked the doc in the head. Very entertaining.

It's the alien probing, Karla. You need to get one of those Probe Clubs -- similar to the anti-theft gadgets for cars but in a different form. That's the only surefire protection you can buy.

That sounds so much like us!! Most people think we're just idiots who screw up birth control but I swear we don't. We use it and use it right but every single one of our kids has been a (welcome) "accident", except the first who was the get knocked up 2 seconds after going off the pill one, like you and RW.

Actually, yes. LOL I've always been on the computer during labor for the ones at home, posting away to pass the time. I think all of my (homebirthed) kids have been born within 5 or 6 feet of the computer. I keep joking I'm going to set up a webcam and charge admission for the show....
Oh My I can always count on coming in here and being entertained when I need a break from work.

Oh dear... I must NEVER read your log after taking a sip of coffee (or water, or anything!).
I think we're gonna see a baby soon - and please, I mean TYPE us the news, not really see it - if you do the webcam, just a link, please, kthxbye!!!
Finally got to sleep in 1/2 hour or so and then contractions woke me up again. Argh.
Got another hour or so of (gentle) gardening in today, plus weekly shopping trip so there's my daily activity. Food -- holy cow, I've been an oinker today! Wow.
*waves to Paula and Jane*

Fortunately for you and, indeed, the rest of the cyberworld, Sascrotch is quite camera shy.
Hey I got preggers 2x ON THE PILL!! Not just once but twice. As soon as I figured out what was causing that, I quit doing it. Haven't had a problem since.....
Or maybe I had the tubes tied.....
