Did I tell you guys about my nose? Kid #5 headbutted my nose this weekend but not too badly. Later that same day, Kid #4 headbutted my nose HARD. It made the sound of pottery shattering, like the other couple of times I've broken my nose. (Just call me Grace...) It bled and was swollen for a bit but not really too badly. It went down quickly and I'm not even sure if it was broken since nothings out of line (any more than it already was). Then 2 days later, yesterday, kiddo #3 headbutted me, followed by kiddo #2 later last night. I don't even care if it's broken anymore. I'm gonna look like a boxer by the end of this week. I wonder what body part they'll start on next??
It's a conspiracy, I tell you.....plain as day!

Cool!! I want one! I have a pile of angle iron around here somewhere and a DH with a welder but not so much with the skillz... What kinda bribe would it take to have ya'll come on over here and build me one?

AWESOME!! My DH is not mechanically inclined, nor construction-ally inclined, or any of the other "ally" inclined's - he says that's why he had to get a job that paid pretty decent, so he could BUY what was needed instead of BUILDING it! (Thankful for that, too, cuz the few times he's tried.......NOT pretty!)
It's finished! Woo hoo!! It's now a combo squat bar AND 18" step AND 12" step. We painted it tonight and it's out in the wellhouse drying for now. We'll bring it in tomorrow evening and I'll take a finished pic then. In the meantime, here it is as of much earlier today:
I didn't get my workout in today as planned because I was helping with the squat rack and running around for groceries and an Olympic weight set (my standard set just isn't cutting it anymore). I'll get it done tomorrow.
There's something else I was gonna say and now can't remember...

I'm sorry I gotta say it (my male chromosomes demand it) - NICE rack!

I'm going shopping today to see what's on the local economy for upgrades to my stuff. I doubt I'll find anything stout as that though. Good job kudos to nutbar's DH!

Ha! I was wondering if anyone was going to say that!

Nope, not plans off the internet. Just plans from hubby's head. Like I always tell him, he's the Rainman of welding and sex. He may be an idiot about many things but he's a genius when it comes to metal. It's a wonder to watch him work (at both of the subjects ).
Got it finished and painted last night. Just waiting for it to dry completely and we'll bring it in the house tonight. He's already starting on my pull-up/dip/whatever else we add station. Oh, did I mention this cost absolutely nothing? Hubby's a welder who owns his own business and this was built out of drops ("scraps") leftover from jobs. Our property looks like Sanford & Son but it's worth it at times like these. LOL
My eyes. LOL (I was entertaining myself last night, goofing around with pics of me and the family, so I cut out my eyes and mouth, resized them, and put them together.)
Warmup: I tried the Active Dynamic Warmup series from Cassandra's PBD book, thanks to Wendy. I need to work on getting the moves down a bit more correctly but, overall, I liked it!
Deadlift: 1 x 12 x 105#, 1 x 12 x 115#. I had to REALLY focus on the last half of the last set (not that I not focused before) to keep my form with that weight. I think I'll keep it at 115# next time to keep me from getting too cocky and slipping in form.
Dumbbell Shoulder Press: 2 x 12 x 17.5# each (35# total). These are still tough as heck for me. Will try to increase a tiny bit for at least one of the next sets.
Wide-grip Lat Pulldown: 2 x 12 x 90#. Feeling tough but good. Will increase again a bit next time.
Lunge: 1 x 12 x 20#, 1 x 8 x 35#, 1 x 4 x 20#. As mentioned before, I suck at lunges. Bad. Hubby mentioned he'd have trouble staying balanced with big boobs, too. LOL With that thought in my head, I tried the first set with a 10# DB in each hand and, bingo, I could do them more easily! Then I got cocky with the second set and went up to 17.5# each DB and had to drop back down to 10s again for the last 4 reps. Doh! I'm gonna pose a question about this down in the NR4W section in a bit....
Swissball Crunch: 2 x 10 x overhead Swissball. Not wanting to repeat last week's head bonking with the 25# plate on my head, I opted for overhead ball this time. Even going slow and squeezing the heck out of my abs, it was still easily doable. I'll start with overhead plates next time. (I worked hard on my abs most of last year so I do have fairly good ab strength.)
Okay, first pic is with the step pushed all of the way back for use as a squat rack.
Next pic is with the step pushed to the front for use as a step. It's set at the 18" level in this pic but can be moved down to the bottom bar for a 12" step as well.

That is an awesome rack! You should post that pic for the person with a question on how to step into a squat rack -- picturing the miror on the wall. Great job!
My eyes. LOL (I was entertaining myself last night, goofing around with pics of me and the family, so I cut out my eyes and mouth, resized them, and put them together.)
Okay, I get it now that you said the resized part. (Duh, me) Your husband did an excellent job with that rack!
Great workout, too. Can't wait to see the gains you make with the new equipment.
Nice Squat Rack thats pretty cool. How much did all the supplies cost. You can also use that step for box squats 12 inches is a perfect hight for low box squats
That's so cool your hubby made you a squat rack! :-) Wish I had one :-(
A squat rack or a husband?
