It seems to get worse as the day goes on. I think I'm gonna can my running workouts for this week and replace them with a few swim workouts. I know I can certainly use a good swim workout!

My foot sucks. I ran 30 min on the treadmill today and about 1/2 way into the run/walk, my foot started cramping up again. I have no idea what's going on, but it's making me mad. I think I'm done running at least til next Monday.
Today was my modified Break-in Workout B
Dumbbell Shoulder Presses 2x15 @ 20 lbs
Reverse Crunches - did pilates jacknife
Deadlifts - OOOPS I forgot to do deadlifts. I knew I was forgetting something and I just realized it right now as I look at my gym log!!!
Close grip lat pull downs 2x15 @60 <--- Up 5lbs from last week!!!
Lunges 2x15 @ 50 (2- 25 lbs dumbbells)
One of my friends finally showed up at the gym and we were talking while I was working out. So, I totally spaced on my deadlifts. Whoops.
Here's what a jacknife looks like. I usually kick my legs over my head and touch the floor behind my head with my toes, then lift my legs up in the air like the picture, then slowly lower to the floor. It's really a fun exercise!

Well, no running for a few weeks. I really f-ed up my foot today. I went to the Dr. because I thought I broke it. Turns out, I sprained it really bad. One of the ligaments in the bottom of my foot is torn. My foot was feeling so much better, but then I stepped on it wrong at lunch today and ripped it some more. AAAAHHH!
I can still do weights, biking, swimming, etc. Just no running or "pouding" sports. This really makes me MAD! I guess it could be worse though - I could've broken it.
So, today is a planned OFF day. I'm gonna see how I feel tomorrow and do those deadlifts I missed on Monday. If I'm up to it, I'll do my spinning class!

Well, this week was pretty much a wash. I can barely walk. I can't bend my foot at all because it hurts so bad. I'm really hoping that by this time next week I'll be OK.
I worked out Monday, then re-hurt my foot Tuesday so I didn't do any workouts at all this week. I missed two running workouts and my spin class. I did do weights this morning though. I found an old pair of 15 lbs dumbbells under my bed and did my Break-In Workout A in my living room. It is -8F outside, WITHOUT the windchill, so I am NOT going anywhere today!
Here's what I did:
Squats
2x15 @ 30 lbs - not the usual weight, but since I had to go lighter, I did deeper squats.
Crunches
2x15 @ bw
Two-point dumbbell row
2x15 @ 15 - again, lighter than usual. I don't have any 25 lb weights at home.
Deadlifts - did in place of lunges since I can't bend my right foot
2x15 @ 30
Pushups - did these on my knees because of the non-bending foot issue
2x15 @ bw
Here's my anticipated plan for this week:
Sunday - OFF (GO PACKERS!!!)
Monday - 20 min elliptical, Break-in Workout B
Tuesday - OFF
Wednesday - 20 min elliptical, 45 min spinning (depends on foot)
Thursday - OFF
Friday - 20 min elliptical, Break - in Workout A
Sat - Possibly a 30 min run/walk????
It's really freakin cold here. Brett Favre always seems to play the best in shitty weather. Just for some perspective, it's 42F in Antarctica right now. Granted, it is summer there, but still.....

Hell yeah it's frickin' cold here. Back in teh 80s, after they built the Pettit center, we had a deep freeze. During that time some Fins or Norweigians come to train there. The news reporter asked them how they liked Milwaukee. They said they liked it except for the cold!
Are you icing and heating your ankle?

BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR RRRRR.............
I woke up at 3:30 this morning. It was -15F. AACK. I laid in bed for a few hours just to stay warm!!! I *heart* my electric blanket. It is -25F windchill right now. My BF wants to go somewhere to watch the game, but, I've got a fireplace and a big screen at home. I'd rather stay here!
I've been icing my foot. It's actually feeling somewhat better today. That makes me very happy. I can even move my toes now without severe pain!!

I hate PMS. I ate 4 PB cookies today and a handful of peanut m&m's. Yesterday, I was craving salt so bad that I had a handful of my bf's potato chips. I must say that I am very proud of myself that this was all that I ate. I'm usually much worse but I am really focused this month. Hopefully next month, I can make it without any of this crap!
I'll be back later to post workouts. I missed logging two of them. BTW - still f*cken cold outside.

Girl, don't sweat the cookies and chips ("Don't sweat the petty things, and don't pet the sweaty things!" . Like you said, you didn't eat till you puked, right?
I'm intrigued with this tri thing. I think I'll learn how to swim properly this summer. I know how to bike , and I know how to run already! )))))
Anywho, I like that Suvorov dude. We learned a lot about him in elementary school back in Mother Russia.

A little indulgence goes a long way. Don't worry about it, just maintain a 90% track record and you're golden.

Thanks Cynic. It's tough not to beat myself up over it, but I now know I just need to allow for it in my diet. I keep telling myself I don't need to be 100% at everything I do. 90% can and should be GOOD ENOUGH!
Northern Wisco - It's +18F today. It's a fricken HEAT WAVE!!! My foot it still very tender. I'm still limping around. I went to spinning class on Wed, and that was a joke. It is getting better each day though. Thankfully!
Natalia - People always tell me that either the swim or the run is what holds them back from doing a tri. If they tell me it's the run, I tell them this: If you can swim for 15-30 minutes, bike for 2 hours, then you can certainly WALK for 45 minutes! No one ever said you have to RUN the run portion! Swimming is a little different though. Sometimes there are so many people, you aren't really swimming, just doggy-paddling your way through! I do need to get into a pool and SOON. I haven't done any swimming in a LONG time! Oh, and in the past few years I've become obsessed with learning about Russia. I visited Hungary and Romania in 2005 and learned so much about communism, the after effects, and the former Soviet Union. I learned so much more than I ever did in high school history. After that trip, I've become obsessed with Eastern-European and Russian history. I want to visit Russia SOOOOO badly!
I missed logging Monday's and Wednesday's workouts. So, here's a summarized version:
Monday: Break-In workout B. I replaced step-ups with lunges a while back because I have knee issues. But, now I can't bend my foot, so I couldn't do lunges on both sides. I certainly tried, but I am too afraid of injuring it more. I really need it to heal ASAP. SO, I decided to do the leg press instead. I increased my weight by 10lbs on deadlifts. YAY! I could barely finish shoulder presses for some reason. BUT, now that I look back in my log, I was using 25 lb dumbbells rather than 20 lbs. I thought I was just having a bad day!
Wednesday: 20 minutes on the elliptical, and 45 minutes spinning. Spinning was a joke because the clip on my shoe puts all my body weight on the spot of my foot that hurts. I couldn't get up out of the saddlt at all. I'm a wuss.
Food was OK this week. I've been having a lot of problems with eating cheese. I don't eat a lot to begin with, but I'm from Wisco. I love it and want to put it on everything! So, yesterday I bought veggie cheese. I used to eat it all the time, but when I slowly started adding dairy back into my diet, I switched to regular cheese. So, I'm gonna try it out over the next few weeks. I like to sprinkle it over my salad, put it in sandwiches, on a baked potato. It's a little indulgence of mine!
I spent $85 at the grocery store last night! I should be good for a while with the exception of produce. My BF called me while I was there and asked if I would get him a bag of potato chips. Now, I'm a lactose-intolerant vegetarian, so my cart was FULL of "health foods." (I think it's funny how they call that section of the grocery store health foods. Like the rest of the stuff in the store is all JUNK food, or something.) So, after I left, I called him and told him I looked pretty funny buying a cart full of healthy foods and a bag of greasy, salty chips!
Today is my last Break-in workout. I think I got an extra workout in there somewhere because I'm ending with workout A. Oh well. Next week, no weights at all.

SBR - nice job keeping up the workout even with that foot. I hope that it heals asap. I'm also vegetarian and was curious how you are doing on your diet portion. What does a typical day look like for ya? I'm doing ok with the workouts but obviously need to get both in gear for there to be any visible changes along this challenge!
Giz
PS I've also done two sprint tris. Barely survived the swims, still don't know how to breathe, but recently found out there's a former Marine at my gym who swears he can teach people to grow gills... so maybe my next tri will be better! Good luck with yours.

Thanks for visiting Gizmogirl!
My diet is a work in progress, and I know that I don't get enough protein every day. I am constantly trying to find ways to get extra protein.
Here's my menu for today:
Meal 1
1 c All Bran extra Fiber
1/2 c soy milk
Meal 2
1/2 c yogurt
Meal 3
Morningstar Farms Chix Parmesan Patty (fake chicken)
Veggie cheese
dab light ranch dressing
La Tortilla regular wrap
Meal 4
Luna bar
Meal 5
2 salt free rice cakes
1 Tbsp natty pb
Meal 6
Baked potato
1 c 1% cottage cheese
I pretty much eat the same foods over and over. I know this isn't perfect and I'm adjusting daily!
I think I am going to add some boiled egg whites to my breakfast and add flaxmeal to my yogurt. I eat a lot of egg white omelets with spinach and a piece of high fiber bread. I also eat cc every day.
============================== =====================
I got out of work early today. We are having a major winter storm, so nuthin' tonight! My mom and my bf both have the flu. We went over to my mom's to help her out over the weekend and she was just coming down with it. Now, they both have it. I guess it skipped me!
My foot is still tender. The top hurts. The bottom doesn't hurt anymore at all, so that's great news! I'm hoping that I'll be able to run by next Monday!
