Oh I thought it was funny last night when I typed it (might have been some of the vodka I had last night ).
But it's the truth.... FERC is such a pain in the ass....They're worried I might pick up information that would affect the futures market (like I have that kind of money ) and they'd be worried your hubby would pick up information about transmission tarriffs that he could pass on to someone else.
so I have to be very circumspect if I'm talking to someone on the production side of things.

I don't keep it in my house because if I have it I'll eat it. But I think it's something that the company needs to consider.

That's at least one of the blessings of going really low carb : it helps tremendously with carb cravings , provided you don't go too low , because that can bite yourself in the tail.
|
I did well with HELL because most of my carbs were from veggies/fiberous veggies. Bob doesn't understand why I'm not a big rice eater. I like rice, but I prefer wild varieties instead of the completely milled stuff.
Ideally my eats choice would be lots of veggies with a little rice and the occassional bit of oatmeal thrown in.

Good call about getting the scale back. Daily weighing, albeit a PITA keeps you honest. I'm working with rolling averages so daily fluctuations don't bother me much.
|
actually I'm to the point daily weighing doesn't screw with me. The scale is just one of the many tools in my toolbox. BUT I also look at it as a way to keep me accountable and help modify my behaviors on a daily basis. I know fluctuations will happen, but I'm not worried about them.
Must go to the post office to see if Mag Mob is here.

OK after spending most of this weekend thinking about stuff and what was successful, I've decided to go back into the HELL program and work my way through it again. I have routines from both the custom program (except for the last month but I may be able to recreate that) that Leigh created for me, plus I have the generic version as well.
My thoughts are this
1) alternate between the custom program and the generic one for workouts. That way I get some variation of exercises but I'll stay in each phase a little longer. So the first month I'll do my first custom program, with the first generic month following. Then do the second months for each program and finish up with the Generic program's 3rd month since I can't seem to find the one she wrote for me.
2) Food will mainly come from lean protein, fruits and veggies. Since overall grains don't play a big part in my diet any more - except for oatmeal which is a staple for my breakfast - I won't miss rice or anything like that. Rice, beans etc... are allowed on my "cheat" meal (every 10th day or there abouts and it should happen on my high day) but oatmeal, at least initially, can stay in the plan.
3) Whether I like it or not, aerobic activity is a necessity and that means doing my drills. I have to keep moving for the whole 20 minutes the drills should take me even if that means going like hell on the elliptical.
4) I give y'all permission to keep me accountable. I will be posting meals and counts.
5) I need to do this program because I want to get past where I am and I want to do it this time... no excuses, no whining about how hard it is....
6) I'm still going to pursue the candy thing at work....

Why that specific macro ratio? Viz. lowish fat but quite high in carbs?
Are you avoiding grains because of health reasons? Normally, people either have gut problems (celiacs etc.) or they are low carbing. You aren't having that problem, so I'm curious why the carbs are relatively high. Are the carbs post workout nutrition or a carb load?

Espi:
Carb Loads are heavier on resistance training days, and lower on Aerobic and rest days. On Aerobic and rest days, my protein goes up (45 and 50 %). Fat stays at 20% for resistance aerobic days and goes up to 25% on Rest days. Caloric values rotate on a daily basis. A pain in the rear but at this point, I can live with it.
Re the grains - Honestly, I've never been much of a grain person, except for oatmeal. I was always the kid who didn't care for sandwichs because the idea of eating bread was just EH to me. And I'm not sure what the rationale is behind the limiting of grains, but it seems to work with me. She emphasizes eating fruits and Veggies which is TNT like in it's approach except that you can have starchy veggies so potatos and the like are okay.

Potatoes also have a very high satiety factor, apart from being easier to digest. So, I totally get you here.
But keeping fats that low (20-25%) doesn't sound doable or even healthy to me, unless someone has an über-high maintenance of like 4000kcal. It's mostly calories in, vs calories out, but most do better on lower carbs & higher fat intake. Personally, I've never had fats lower than 35% for a longer period. Going lower than 30% is doable for 1 day, but that's about it..
I'd say: fiddle with your macros until you're happy with them and still lose fat/wt.

Is it weird that I get tingles of excitement when I see someone start a new plan (and I get to watch & read their thoughts throughout the process)??
Why the move away from the 5 x 5? I thought you had switched to that because it worked well for you and you enjoyed it.
I've got the (generic) HELL program in my files to try one of these days if the mood hits. Looks painfully interesting so I'll definitely be keeping a close eye on your thoughts as you go through it. So you went partially through it before?
Are the "drills" you mention in #3 part of HELL? (I haven't read through that in a long time now and can't remember.) Or are they something you've added on just for some extra movement?

As much as I enjoy it, it seems to be aggravating the crap out of my left hip. So I'm going back to HELL so that I can work on the issues and maybe get some of the mobility issues taken care of. Leigh had programmed stuff into my program.

Yes. I did really good the first month and then didn't do so hot the second and third month.

They are part of HELL to help burn the fat and improve your conditioning. I'm gonna be sucking some mighty wind tomorrow.

Okay I have managed the candy minefield known as the office. I've got to stop and put go juice in the car, and then it's home to workout. And then a nice big salad to follow up the workout with.
