For me it wouldn't matter, I don't tolerate creamy sauces very well. It sounds wonderful without it though.

I don't know where you are in Florida, but I was thinking about you and hoping you were okay. From the sounds of your log, you are. Great meal (although I'm not totally sure what one of the things you listed is).

thanks vickie! this is my first attempt at german--was inspired by the spice blend at our specialty grocer, so I just read the list of the blend and added things that would accent well. not authentic by any stretch!!!
yep, anne, i tasted it before adding said white stuff, it was yummy
karen411==raw agave nectar is a sweetner from a cactus. spaetzle is a german noodle-this brand had whole eggs and quite a bit of fiber, so I went for it.

taking an impromptu day off. left knee a little tweeky from yoga plus leg workout from yesterday. yoga always does tweeky things to me--I need to stop taking challenging classes and pushing myself, and instead take the beginner hatha stuff to stretch.

I only recently discovered how wonderful Penzey's is. When I went lower sodium it really saved me from feeling like my food was all grey cardboard. I love just smelling the sample jars. Mmmmm....

Just repeating what was said in the question you asked re whether you are on the right track: yes you ARE: recomping = fat loss + LBM gains is the best there is.
If you *DO* want to speed up fat loss, you might want to throw in a PSMF-day or week right when your appetite is lowest naturally. PSMF = protein sparing modified fast (or IOW: protein strictly mofo!) . It calls for very low calories from nearly only protein. Most drop wt very fast .. it is a 'get in, get out fast' approach that works well as long (!) as you don't overdo the exercise. A week would work for right after the holidays and a day after you have been OD-ing the calories for a bit.

lisa and clove, love love love penzey's. haven't been to the actual store about 2 hours away, but it is on my list.
thanks espi! I need to tread carefully with any kind of severe restriction. I get triggered to overeat by those kinds of plans. I might be in a different headspace these days and I might tolerate it differently.

I'm not even wanting to go there, but I did learn a lot from reading people's journal who do it as it gave me ideas how to lower calories.
Used to have a problem eating anything lower than 1500 as I simply didn't know how to do this w/o having too low protein. Now I know and use it to make really drastic shifts between rest & WO days.
I don't tolerate anything lower than 1000kcal though and even 1100 kcal can be too low. But 1200 is easy provided I don't do it more than 2 days in a row. PLUS do a refeed in the evening of that 2nd day, so that's not a true 1200kcal day.
By including the carbs of the night before a WO day, I've been able to have better performance but also to not start overeating after a training. That is a really big change.
The carb manipulation is really superduper useful for both lowering calories and cravings on rest days and then by raising them to increase performance and have an anabolic effect. It's been a learning experience to tweak it so that you feel best both physically & mentally.
Seems like you're in an excellent place yourself already! What I'm especially envious about is your muscle gains.. that is still an elusive thing for me. Any cut over 5% and I'm losing 30% LBM re total.

thanks espi! re: muscle gains, if I didn't actually see the calf, thigh, arm and shoulder inches increase, I totally wouldn't be believing the stats, but the skinfolds consistently decrease each week despite minimal scale weight change. I think so much of this is beginner's luck. since june 30, I have been lifting more like 4-5 times per week for the first time ever. prior, it was only 2 or maybe 3 times a week. I am sure the gains are going to be leveling off eventually.
I am really really happy with the muscle gains--I love the look, and I suspect that I am a bit of a natural mesomorph--which I think is why I do better with a few more carbs then the average overweight person. protein only makes me feel awful, even for a day.

It's all about finding what works best for you!
You know I've come to the realization after all those years of thinking I'm just an endomorph I am actually a 'skinny fat' person and have more ectomorph characteristics than I ever thought to have. Once the insulin resistance was gone, I am able to tolerate waaaaaaay more carbs than I thought possible. More salts too! Fun times
