ok, so 13.1 great running miles today, some slight soreness in left quads from lifting strain from wednesday, but otherwise I did great, and for a long, slow easy run, my overall pace was smokin!!!

am recovering with whole grain lemon pepper fettucine topped with maine mussels, spinach, shallots and other yummy spices, some lemon, a bit of olive oil and smart balance. and a side of whole tiny carrots steamed with some mural spice on top. (mural spice is from penzeys.com) and I have fresh raspberries for dessert.

the body builder trainer at my gym tried to get me to eat the bare chicken breast and steamed broccoli diet. see why I declined her offer????

thanks JB and PN staff for pioneering the concept that eating healthy and living year round in a lean body is possible and way better than the alternative. (I've got the cooking down, now I need to get after actually putting the 10 habits into practice....)

met baby elise today ( a tri-friends newborn....)!!!! the highlight number one of my day. and number two was watching three of my newbie runners, who started out walk/running for 15 MINUTES complete their very first 10K!!!

wish I could say the race was everything I hoped it would be. alas, I am realizing that, as much as I love my local track club buddies, business people and planners they are not, and my own business plan will be involving some folks who do this professionally. a learning experience for sure.

and I received my first week of training from the folks at precision nutrition.com. hmmmmm. don't think I have any delusions of being able to do their conditioning program and train for a marathon. I have decided to completely follow their plan, which involves a lot of weight training, and high intensity cardio (so I will of course, choose running when they prescribe intervals).

I am only one person, I am launching a new business and still doing my full time job. I can't give everything I have to this training program and do my distance running and swimmming too.

so for the next 17 weeks, I will be one fat burning machine. and all of the goals I have for running and triathlon will be that much easier when I return to them the first week in november in the best shape of my life. so there it is.

You're an inspiration! I bet you knew this already but it doesn't hurt to repeat it again!

Was relating to your longer post on how you were content with how you look yet strive for improvement: Wendy's Transformation

I think you are making the right decision here as well: you're too busy to do both and you'll be in an even better place when you're leaner and meaner in November.

so add me to the officially injured. MRI showed a healing bone contusion (bruise not fracture) of the patella (knee cap) and femur. the good news is that the plan I posted yesterday to focus on weights and short distance running is perfectly fine with the sports med doc, even now. he said that the running I have been doing has not in anyway complicated the damage, and may even be helping it heal. but deciding not to do the marathon training and focus on muscle building and leaning out will help my knees over the longterm, so he thought that was a great idea. and I am SOOOO fortunate that I didn't cause damage that could have required surgery.
. . . . . . . . . .

Sorry to hear you're on the disabled list - did the doc say how long it'd take to heal?
