Wendy! Sorry I've been scarce ... you are doing a fantastic job!
Good that you can tolerate carbs ... I haven't given the test a try. I suspect that I don't tolerate them so well. But I can't have a bagel (gluten) so I've put off trying them. I do know that I felt really really good doing TNT A (which is very limited carbs). With my adrenal problems, I am supposed to have some carbs (not including fibrous veggies) with each meal though ...
Stage 2 looks killler! At this rate (2 workouts per week) I will be doing stage 1 forever!! Sigh ... life!!

Stage 2 Shared Excitement/Commiseration
Great to read you are in Stage 2 and sounds like you are kicking some serious butt! Speaking of kicking butt-even though the lunges/split squats are UTTER torture--don't you just love that feeling of all those unruly leg muscles being tight when you're done? It gives me hope for the ol' inner thighs!
It's quite the sick combination of pleasure and pain!
Keep up the great work!

julie, so funny how bodies are different. I felt awful on TNT--I can do it for a day when I have no activity whatsoever. I always felt like a failure on those kinds of diets, now I am realizing that bodies run differently.
lorianne, I agree. my hammies and ass are burning from today, so by tomorrow, I anticipate walking funny
thanks robin! you will do just fine!
greg, check out the thai recipe here for some awesome food porn ; Wendy's Blog

Hey Wendy,
Great job on the workouts! I was just looking around for some motivation for Stage 2. LOL I think I'll do similar to you and really work on form.
Keep it up!

yeah, ginger, I highly recommend backing it down a bit. I found the squats/push press combo challenging today. shit, the whole work out was challenging

I actually did a min-workout here at home and decided to try the exercises in the A that I was worried about and that squat/push press, almost pushed me over the edge. My wrists hurt (and this was with the bar and very light weight) and doing them exactly as the description didn't work, either. I couldn't get my elbows up like the picture, unless my arms were more spread out?@? Sorry, I am venting in your log.

ginger, that is correct--grip should be a bit wider than shoulder width. I find the bar alone (45) plenty challenging. I suspect that I am not exploding enough into the push press. but I am just trying to stay uninjured at this point.
yep, susan read ahead and practice the motions a bit. and allow extra time at the gym, especially the B workout.

Ok, I know that is what felt best to me. Maybe I was reading too much into the description, again. I don't want to get hurt, either.

I've come to that realization too ... makes sense why some do great on Atkins and others don't ... some do great on Ornish, and others don't! No one is FAILING ... they just haven't found what works for their specific makeup yet ... good stuff!

hey! doing a 12 week 5k training plan out of fuhrman university--they profiled it in runners world a while back--3 plus 2--basically 3 key workouts track, tempo, long
today was on treadmill
1/2 mile warmup at 5.2 mph
8 x 0.25 miles at 7.0 mph with 0.25 mile rest segment in between at 5.2 mph
1/2 mile cooldown at 5.2 mph.
happy to report that I did the whole workout, with a pretty decent heartrate besides. fun times! then massage and thai food with jay, then I taught at FSU. now ed and I are going to a new raw foods restaurant. will report later.

mmm we went to a gourmet raw food restaurant last night.we started with hard cider (for the uninitiated, think apple juice, only with a buzz). then we had a fantastic spinach dip that was made with cashew milk, served with homemade raw seed crackers and lots of cut up veggies, the jicama moons were my fave.
I had the raw pizza--bacially a sprouted grain crust with homemade sundried tomato sauce, nut "cheese" basically a ground nut base that tasted kind of like ricotta, topped with eggplant, garlic, fresh tomato and portabella. ed had the raw lasagna, which was unbelievable--the "noodles" were made from thin zuccchini, some of the same sauce and nut cheeses that I had--layered thick. his was served with noodle shaped veggies like squash and zucchini, mixed with a spicy olive oil and braggs amino acids--it was yummy.
we split dessert--a serving of avocado banana "ice cream" (again nut milk based) with crushed nuts and fresh bananas on top on a base of "fudge" that was some kind of carob/agave sugar concoction.
