Nuts (for example) rarely make me full for more than a few seconds and I crave more food well within my "no eat" periods. Carbs are good for me and foods high in fiber are good too. For some people carbs are death. They just burn right through them. You need to do some serious debug here I think.
Thanks Karla - I'm kinda distracted today (will try to log about it in my own log when I get a few minutes) but I will take this topic back to my little hamster log and try to figure out the hunger thing a bit more... You have good questions and yes - I need a debug!

Great job on the workouts. You are by no means stupid. You actually are probably one of the more insightful people I know about eating and lifting. It really is amazing how all this stuff comes together and what a fine line just a few 100 calories can mean when lifting.

Your doing great!!

No time to do anything but post and run right now. Just wanna log workout.

Today's workout with trainer = push/pull workout. It was also a very mentally challenging workout for me. He was in very good form today and pushed me beyond exhaustion on almost every exercise and then dogged me about not eating every time I gave in. He would push me until I almost gave up and then he would say something like "I had better see your arm fall off or puke coming out of your mouth" which would keep me moving a bit longer but ultimately I gave out. He said the lack of food was making me a weak warrior. Of course all of this pissed me off.

Warmup
10 min tready 3% and 5.0 mph

Superset 1 (3 times)
Punching bag with 7.5 lb dumbells. (50 puches each hand)
Prone jack-knife only with a pushup between each one and (oh yeah) hands on an upside down bosu. (x12)

Superset 2
seated cable pull downs
3x15 (2 plates)
pull-ups (assisted)
3x10

cable pec flyes
3x15 (2 plates)

trainer pull (he sits on something with 2 towels and I grab onto towels and lean back and then pull on the towels. I cannot ever release)
3x10

Then we went and ate lunch with this nutritionist person. Did not get into too much discussion. He just wanted us to meet. This was the worst ass kicking I had in a long while and I am motivated to eat just to avoid this from happening again.

About 30 min after lunch I did a 30 min slow job on the track. HR 140 ish

Were you normally able to do more volume or have more strength?

This was his way to make it absolutely clear how you need more food to recover from workouts... not nice of him, but very effective.

Thanks for sharing, Karla. It's such a great learning experience to watch as you seek to find your balance in all of this. Finding balance is what each of us needs to do. It's so important. I know we each have to find our own balance, but watching you get to the place where you are lifting strong and recovering well without gaining is such an eye-opener.

I think he has your number! Do you think you'll meet up with the nutritionist for an actual session?

You know Epsi, I really don't know. From what I can tell, he (as a rule) doesn't really push his peeps to failure. Mentally it is not great and it took me 3 full days before I could move without pain. Not many people would train with him if he did that as a rule. This was a very effective way to show me that he means business and I need to do what he says.

Now here is the big kicker in all of this. Thru this week I have not been able to get my calories in despite this lesson and late last night I was nearly in tears talking about this dilema with Brent. It was already Sat night and I was 1500 cals behind my goal. I had analysed this issue to death and I kept insisting to Brent that it was physical not mental but by then I just wasn't sure. I mean I got 3K cals in when I was bulking. It just didn't add up. Brent suggested then that I talk to Bruce about this. Bruce is this great Body Builder in our town who owns a store where I get all my gainers and fat burners. Last time I saw Bruce he sold me these fat burners called Hot Rox. He told me they had caffiene and other ingredients that would help me drop weight. It then hit me. These damn pills had an appetite supressent as well.

I never told my trainer about these pills. I bought them from a source I trusted and I wanted to try them. I did not know if my trainer would approve or not and I wanted to try them. Anyway, long story short is I stopped them today and my ability to eat is back!!!!! I am not in need of therapy after all. I am in need of a kick in the ass for my stupidity. My trainer and I conversed today and I told him that I was cured. Of course then I had to tell him why. He is pretty angry with me for not disclosing that one. I am glad I told him today which will give him a few days to burn off the anger at least. He told me a lot of reasons why those are bad suppliments for me to take and also said that the disclosure issue is a real issue. But then he conceded that the first season is the time for stupid mistakes. So I think he will forgive me after some sort of lecture on Tuesday. At least I am hoping he does.

Anyway I am happy as hell today and my stomach feels good again finally. I ate my calories with no issues, had hunger and everythin. I even think I will even be able to get in the deficit. It would be great to go to him with the 1700 daily met since I have this other issue to deal with now. Cripes.... I wonder if all clients are so "high maintenance"?

That crisis over with the first week of vacation so now back to the slow cut and heavy lift program!

Yes everything is about balance and about root causing failures.

They SUCKED so badly. Funny thing is there was this other client there who just finished with her trainer. She stayed around to watch me do this superset. She cheered me on through the prone jacknife set and declared that she was sure I would not make it to 12. She left mightily impressed.

I thought for sure until last night. I am pretty sure that I have my issues now squared away. Dooop! Don't take fat burner pills if you are a type A personality.

Real quick before I go to bed... Last couple of days workout...

Friday - walk 40 min (HR 125 or so). Primarily a rest day as I was so sore.
Sat - Run 30 min (HR 135)
Sun - Run 30 min (HR 135)

Mostly pretty easy workout days as our Guitar event wound up into a performance on Saturday Night and then an ending today (Sunday) I am now back at the farm for my second week of vacation but it isn't really a vacation 'cause I have some friends here too. One of them is a certified Russian Kettlebell trainer so I will learn a few of the movements from that. He bought me two kettle bells. (Let's see, one is 24lbs and one is 35lbs) He says I am scarily strong for a girl. He is going to teach me to swing and do a Turkish Get Up. I am looking forward to that. Of course my trainer will meet him first and inform me what I can and cannot do wrt this new tool.

Anyway.... Great event and I will post a full write up and catch up as I can get the time to do so.

I'm glad you stopped taking these pills. As a manufacturer of fat loss supps ourselves we decided to NOT make the typical fat burner pill, viz. NO pill that would make you feel too energetic or stop appetite.
I've been a victim of overusing ephedrine myself and while it enables you to work out hard while you're not eating enough, it can also destroy your health if you continuously undereat and are overreaching at the same time. It didn't happen overnight but over a period of almost 1 year I slowly destroyed my own health.. it may not have been just the EC combo but also the continuous very low carb diet whcih makes you burn through more B-vitamins which I happen to absorb very poorly. Turned out I had a major B12-deficiency that wrecks havoc on your health.

For short term results the typical appetite suppressant can be 'fantastic' but long-term it spells disaster. And the nasty part is that they make you feel great, hence why this stuff is so attractive.
