There isn't anything I don't like about it so far. My workouts take between 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes, on average. Each workout you do 4 straight sets for each exercise. You alternate between uni-lateral and bi-lateral moves (ie first exercise is a uni-lateral knee-dominant and the next would be a bi-lateral hip-dominant, etc, etc). Within those 4 sets, I sometimes do 2 different exercises. Like for my knee-dominant, I sometimes to 2 sets of front squats followed by 2 sets of back squats. Compound sets are talked about and encouraged. Lots of info in the book. I highly recommend.
You should be able to tell by the workouts I log how it's set up.

I bought Power Training a few weeks ago it looks great. I look forward to putting together a program for myself, after NROLW. Also, it is a great reference for working with my clients. You're right...it is loaded with information and it was so inexpensive. A great value. If it hadn't been recommended here I probably would not have bought it judging by the cover, just because it is a Men's Health publication. I guess I have a prejudice against products put out by popular magazines. For instance, I probably wouldn't take seriously a book by Shape Magazine.

Thanks for the info! I have a hard time reading other folk's workout logs (even after six months it's still like translating a foreign language for me), but I went back to read through yours again and did notice that you'd grouped some exercises together, so duh! Yes, that makes sense.

Thanks, Tom! After months and months, I think I can finally say my wrist is 99% better. I definitely have an imbalance on my right side due to the wrist, but I'm working on it!

So, I met my swimming teacher and she seems really nice. She told me there are 6 of us newbies in class, so that's good! First class is Monday and she said we are going to concentrate on breath control and floating at the first class. I know how to float, but breath control I definitely need to learn! I can't wait.
I'm also excited to go to a meeting tomorrow of a local dog training club. They had heard about Sophie and they have invited me to their monthly meeting and to come to their training events (and they have lots of really fun-sounding training events and classes) so that I can get comfortable around standard poodles and other large dogs before the puppy comes. I'm definitely taking the new puppy to them because they are really good for training. They do a lot of training of purebreds to prepare them for competitions, and they have been around for many years, so I am confident that it will be a good fit for the new pup. They seem real nice and they have a member with a standard poodle, so this will be my first time to be near one since the incident. It will be good for me and it will be good for the puppy so that I don't pass along any fears to her.

Yay for swimming! You're going to have so much fun. I actually feel more at home in water than I do on land.
The training group sounds like such a good idea...it will definitely benefit you and the new puppy. You are a face things head on kinda woman aren't you? Well it's worked so far!!! Good luck with both swimming, and meeting the poodles!

<-------note new low on scale today....that's my pound for the week, ladies, ahead of schedule.
Well, I had such a good time at the dog training club today. They are FAR more active and organized than I had even thought. Everyone welcomed me so warmly and I had a good time. I'm going to become a 'dogless member' until Violet arrives. Until that time, I can help out with events they have, observe training, agility, and confirmation trials. Never thought I'd be a dog person, but here I am! I made friends with a standard poodle, which was a big deal (same breed that killed Sophie). The owner knew I was coming and she was so nice about introducing me to her dog. There was a girl there with a tiny toy poodle, who was the same size as Sophie and I got to hold her through the whole meeting. She was very sweet! Nice evening.
I didn't workout this weekend. Instead, I concentrated on massive amounts of stretching, foam rolling, and NEAT. I've had this tightness in my lower back the last few days and I kept thinking it would work itself out, but I guess I needed a couple days rest from weights. It feels much better today.
Tomorrow is my first swimming class. I'm such a dork. I tried on my swimsuit with my cap and goggles to see how I looked. (Like a dork!). I'm excited for class. Mondays are usually my weight days, so I need to switch up my schedule this week. Then, as I transition to 4-rep sets, I am thinking my workout will be a bit shorter, so maybe I can squeeze it in before swimming and keep up with M-W-F, as usual. We'll see. I'll work it out.

good luck working out the new schedule! I'm sure you'll do great with the swimming. (And don't worry... EVERYONE looks like a dork in cap and goggles! You are not alone!)
