I seriously want to go. my other husband and I went to a local body building show and he was bored to tears. we left early. I want to go to a big show with all of the cool fitness expos, etc. with people who want to be there! (other husband is one of my best friends who does like men, but wasn't into this show--he just met a new guy, and I honestly think he is smitten.)

WELL aside from the tires, how did your shopping day go? Did you get any new clothes? Any good finds at BR?

Not so much at BR on sale, actually. I did pick up a pair of Jackson trousers for Fall at the 30% off discount. First pair of Jacksons for me. I usually get Martins. But, I really liked the Jacksons. Did you find that you wear a smaller size in the Jacksons vs. Martins? I think I will just pay attention online and pick up a few more pair of Jacksons on sale within the next few months so it's not such a huge hit to the wallet.

I usually prefer Jackson fit, but that's almost always because the ones that come in Ryan or Martin aren't really styles or fabrics that I like. I have only tried on 1 pair of Martins lately (size 6) and they fit everywhere but the thigh, which was too tight.

FWIW, I find that the stores have better prices than the online sales. I bought a dress in the store for $49 and found it online for $89 on sale (originally $119). So if you see something you like online, you might call your local store(s) and see if they have it.

I am now in a 6 for the Martins, but needed a 4 for the Jacksons, which I found odd. Glad I tried them on, though, instead of ordering them.

They didn't have anything I liked enough on clearance.

Macy's had much better clearance sales going on today, too. I tend to buy my basics (really good tailored pants, skirts, shirts) at BR. Then, I go for major sale stuff for other tops, trendy stuff, etc. Deep down, I am a cheapskate!

Oh Hai ... did someone say shopping? I got my new jeans in the mail today and my new underwears from agent provocateur because they are having a sale. The jeans all have to go to the tailor to make them fit my short shanks though. That's fine since it's still pretty hot here. Looking forward to boot weather actually.

Hey missjane - Old Navy has jeans on sale for $12 today (8/23). Just thought you might be interested! I picked up a pair of Flirt boot cut jeans and they're very flattering

Well, by the time I got there, it looked like a tornado had whipped through the store. I took back 2 pairs to try on, but both were too short -- one Flirt and one Diva. So, I asked the fitting room guy if anyone had left any "longs" at the fitting room and he had a Diva in long. So, I happily grabbed it. When I got to the checkout, they rang up at $9.99. I asked the clerk why they were $9.99 and she said they were on clearance. Whatever.....I'm happy as can be at this point. Went for $12 jeans and came home with $10 jeans. EXCEPT when I got home, they are Diva skinny straight-leg jeans -- like skinny skinny skinny stick to your leg skinny. Grrrrrr. So, they have to go back.

On the bright side, I do have my Henry Generation jeans on their way to me (not $12, but still a bargain considering their regular price) and, hopefully, they will fit and I will be a happy camper.

Week 4 Day 1 of 100 pushup program -- 5 sets

OK, there is no freakin way I can get to 100 pushups straight through. No way. It will be a miracle if I make it through week 4 and then at the end of week 4 we test again to see where we start for week 5. Well, the lowest acceptable test results before week 5 is 31 pushups straight through -- no way. So, at the very least, I think I'll be stuck at week 4 for a while.

Hang in there Jane! You are doing awesome. Look at your numbers above!! So what if you repeat some of the weeks. I plan to stretch the program out to conincide with the Challenge.

I am so with you on the 100 pushups straight through. It seems impossible...crazy to think I'll ever be that strong. But even if it takes us 12 weeks instead of 6, that's still pretty amazing. Before this program, I really never even thought of doing more than 15 pushups in a row.

i think you ladies are shortchanging yourselves - look how well you are doing! i am so impressed with everyone's results on the push up challenge.

as for the make-up and fashion talk, i am so far out of the loop it's not funny! i don't even own any make-up! i think i could get into the clothes tho, since i've noticed a few subtle changes in the things i'm buying. i'm choosing brighter colors and a more tailored fit. i don't work outside the house, so i really don't have a lot of clothing needs, but it would be fun to own something cute for a change.

My Funny of the Day -- I have a page-a-day "George Bush Out of Office Countdown" calendar in my office (148 days left -- woo hoo!). Each day is a different quote from the master of prose. I wasn't in the office on Friday, and as I tore off Friday's page, I found it quite humorous:

"Arbolist......Look up the word. I don't know, maybe I made it up. Anyway, it's an arbo-tree-ist, somebody who knows about trees."
--Quoted in USA Today, August 2001''

Saturday/Sunday was good, too:

"Brie and Cheese."

We had one of those Bushisms calendars at work too. One of my favorites is "Reading is the basics for all learning" You just can't make that stuff up!

I think you are doing great on the push ups too! I haven't tried the challenge yet but I love push ups so I might give it a go. Then again it might make me like them less

Yeah, the pushups are crazy! I finish week 2 tomorrow then I'm doomed to start week 3... I have a feeling it's not going to go very well, but we will see. Your numbers have improved tremendously Jane, you should be so proud! And it might take us a while, but we WILL get to those 100 pushups!
