Gob-Log
Since my training buddy had an unfortunate turn of events it'd be silly to continue the joint log. Since my training goals have changed from my last log, I don't see any point in bumping that and getting folks confused. So a new log with new goals and a nice clean start.
My "goal" is increased athletic performance with an emphasis on field sports (football, rugby style). This is a somewhat generic goal in execution because I'm "hoping" that it will carry over to a degree in other sports (since I plan on playing) such as softball and volleyball.
The actual "training" won't take place until I finish the BOM series. More than anything I started it and want to finish before changing approaches. It should give a stronger base to work from when the training starts and more than anything I don't think it's going to hurt anything.
Right now I'm cutting in order to tape and get my BMI low enough to max my PT test waist measurement. That will continue for three more weeks. I test next Tuesday but decided to go a full 8 weeks...again more of a "stick to the plan" commitment than having a legitimate reason.
After my test I plan on introducing a much more stringent\specific conditioning protocol. And begin a hard bulk not stopping until I'm significantly heavier than I am or it becomes obvious that the extra weight is an issue. After the BOM I'll change things fairly significantly but there isn't a lot of point in getting into that right now

I know you are competing with yourself, but those numbers are hardly disappointing.

thx all. looking back on the #'s in reference to the exercises themselves, combined with the rep schemes it's not too bad. I'm still hung up on absolute numbers.
*******
20min on the stair climber...maybe 13 of which was with a HR in the 160 range
We had unit PT today so there were some misc pushups and situps. My first round of pushups hit 37 before I started to waiver so that bodes well for the test next week.

What's your max push up number? And the run time? And what does your waist circumference need to be?
I can't keep any numbers for PT testing straight unless they pertain to me
I'm sure you'll kick some ass, regardless.

BOM Advanced - Stage 2 - Week 7 - Workout B (2/14/07)
Strait Sets
BB Squat 2x6 @ 176
BB Deadlift 2x6 @ 242
DB Lunge 1x10 @ 16
Stiff Leg Deadlift Wide Grip 1x10 @ 132
Single Leg Squat 1x12 @ BW
DB Single Leg Deadlift 1x15 @ 15
Seated Calf Raise 1x15 @ 220, 1x15 @ 330
BB Shrug 1x8 @ 154, 1x8 @ 198
Knees to sky x 10 (5 sec holds)
BB Rollout x 15
Russian Twist x 11 @ 12lbs
V-UP x 15
Notes: I felt better with this workout. I took my time with the warmups to actually find out where I should be. The Squats went well. I think that's the weight I can control for the reps vs how much I could probably do.
Looking forward to next workout...next friday
Tina> pushup x 57, situp x 54, waist 32.5, run 9:36. This is the first year in a while that I don't really "know" what will happen. Our track has been damaged and I haven't been really working on it for a while. It'll be interesting!

1.5m + 1.5m jog
40 + 40 pushups
My legs are still sore from wed but I wanted to get a jog in today. Took a bit to get some wind in me but after a while the lungs felt fine. Sore and tight was the moral of that story, crappy run, not a good indicator of anything.
Pushups went fine. It's a little more of a struggle than I'd like but still in the "fine" category.

Oh man, am I glad I'm an old bag!
I think I have to do like 30 pushups and 40 situps...28 inch "waist" which is REALLY not the waist, they measure us at the umbilicus and everyone knows a woman's waist is north of there... and something like 12:30 to max the run. The worst thing is, I have just enough education and knowledge to *know* that I should be fully trained to perform my best, yadda yadda.... so I think that it impacts you (well, ME at least, LOL) negatively when I think about the fact that I haven't done speedwork or whatever.
You, OTOH... have that youthful immortality thing going on I have no doubt your testosterone will save the day and you'll max it.

I doubt that I'll max it. The run is always the thing that gets me. If I really put some effort into it I'm sure it'd be doable but it's too easy to lose interest in
push-ups 40+40
jog 1.5m +1.5m
The push-ups came easy. Major confidence boost. I wasn't "worried" before but that's 40 without pause and not maxing out. The other 17 will be no problem.
The run was a little easier than before. The legs definitely felt better. The lungs were pretty willing. We'll see how it goes with vs a timer.

Good luck on that test. I know you'll do well, though.

Apparantly I was wrong on the situps. Only needed 53.
Waist: 30" +30pts
Push Up: 57 +10pts
Sit Up: 53 +10pts
1.5m Run: 9:36 +50pts ( PR)
final score: 100%
Stopped early on the pushups and situps...you don't get bonus points for going above and beyond. The run wasn't 100% max but close enough. I didn't watch the clock at all so I didn't know I was doing well. I seen the guys kind of excited on the last 100 so I pushed it up to what I thought I could maintain. 15\10ths of a second would have given me a 9:37. Good thing we don't round up or down on the run!
