Default Chad: Why Leg Curls?

I'm doing TBT and really liking it, but am curious about the inclusion of leg curls. This seems to be one of the most reviled exercises by many of the other heavy-hitter experts who've published and written on this site and the T-Nation site.

I'm curious about why it's included in this workout. Especially since (almost?) all the exercises in the MR book are free-weights or cable movements.

Thanks

Im not chad, but i might have an answer.

The curls are isolation and doesnt require so much of your CNS. They arent as taxing as say, a romanian deadlift. So you still get to stimulate the muscle, and keep from burning out. If that makes sence.

Ill just step back and wait for Chad now :p

Good job kid. Any other thoughts? I'll check in the morning what you've come up with.

Chad hasn't been around for a while so i'm pretty sure he's gone. Up to us to group together.

a couple of thoughts.

1)Leg curls will make your hammies grow, which will make you stronger on the "big lifts":squats, deads, ect.

2)If you don't like them, you can sub them out for something like pullthrus, GHRs, back extensions. TBT is just a template, you choose the exercises.

Thanks for the replies guys. I actually like leg curls and have found them useful--when done correctly.

But lately I was just cruising thru some of my favorite workout books (NROL, STB, etc.) and a few favorite T-Nation workout articles and noticed the near universal condemnation for leg curls (non-functional, etc. ect.).

I was interested in hearing Chad's point of view as to why he finds them useful. Even if Chad doesn't get round to answering this, it's great to hear your reasons. thanks for the replies.
