Default Figuring out 1RM

I plan on starting ABBH in about a week, and wanted to figure out my 1 RM on several of the exercises prior to starting the program. Other than maxing out for 1 rep on each exercise, are there any other alternatives I may want to consider to figure out my 1 RM?

don't worry too much about finding out your 1RM for all the exercises, just estimate and adjust accordingly during or after the first session. You won't lose much

In Chad's high frequency program, there are weeks devoted to finding your 5(?) RM. I'd look over those; should give you an idea to work with.

When I started ABBH, I used this:

http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/1rm.htm

and found it put me in the ballpark for finding my 1RM. It was also really helpful in figuring out the %s of 1RM.

Enjoy ABBH, it's a great workout!

I remember a strength coach once said your 1RM is the amount of weight you can lift if you absolutely had to or you die (hell, I think it was CW). For a pretty busted up guy like myself it isn't worth attempting a 1rm lift. So, simple guesstimation (as gobbla stated) saves me the trouble of going to the ER.

Personally, I use my 6RM range as a guide (it is guesstimated 80% of my max).

Goodluck to ya'

Here's the advice the group gave to me when I worked on finding my 1RMs:

One rep max testing...

The key to loading is to be at/near failure on the last rep of the last set, with a constant load. If you're not, make the necessary adjustments.

If you want to test your RM, just test your 3RM and consider that to be 90% of your 1RM.
