Default Rescheduling workouts? Can't always follow the alternating days on some programs

Can anyone tell me how I should go about rescheduling my workouts on the days when I cannot workout for 4 days in a row (due to work schedules, I start work just after the gym opens and finish just before the gym closes). Like for example on SOB training in the book I am meant to be working out every other day.

Also can I cram two consecutive workout days together just to catch up with the original programming? (i.e. instead of one on, one off, I'll do two workout days together, then taking one day off before going back to the original program)

thanks

Ok, but some weeks I might have to do 2 on, 1 off, 1 on, 3 off. Is it just semantics? Or will I lose some of the training effect?

3 off wont kill you. It's not optimal, but it wont break the program.

Can you do 2 on 1 off 2 on 3 off?

bottom line....does it really matter? if you HAVE to go to the gym at certain times and you CAN'T go at certain times...that's the way it is. you're not going to find a program that's going to fix or work around that (short of maybe a personal trainer than can logically modify things on the spot for you in a logical way).

you have your schedule and you just have to do what you can, when you can.

no matter what you're going to improve if you do your workouts and seek to constantly and consistently improve. like PA says it might not be "optimal" but you can't do anything about it so just press on doing the best you can

This is my first post, I got the book in early January....starting this week...

anyways...gobbla - you have the most common sensical(word?) approach to everything.....

Everyone worries about minor details and you always nail things down into perspective.

Nice work!

Try to keep the schedule as close to what I prescribe as possible. If you can't perfectly follow the schedule, don't sweat it too much.

A better option might be to skip ahead to a program that better fits your schedule.

Neither option is optimal, but life rarely is.
