Ab Wheel
Hi Chad....great book. I have a simple question about the Ab wheel. Are you referring to that exercise device that looks like the front axle of a tricycle? Or is this a specific exercise that is supposed to be done? Thanks for your help!

if you don't have an ab wheel; I think you could substitute barbell rollouts and be good. Did them last night. . . . OMG!

BB Rollouts are almost the same thing. Maybe a little more stability in the BB but I would think they make an acceptable alternative.

lil girlies
I guess it's cause im not that hyooooge + im 5'7 + i've worked on my abs a ton so they are very strong.
Also i take an easy curl bar and put 10's on each side and ROLL OUT(on 20's... quite literally) and it's fairly hard but no soreness... i guess im not the A-typical(i hate ab work) lifter. I usually end up doing reps to a point where it gets difficult for me.
anyway to make this harder for me chad?

As I mentioned before, buy an ab wheel. It'll probably cost you $10. The ab wheel is simply one of the best ab movements that you can do.
Everyone should own an ab wheel, and everyone should train the movement at least 2x/week. It's that important.

Hey Chad, what progression methods would you use to get someone from doing the ab wheel rollout on their knees, to a full rollout? I can do endless repetitions on my knees, yet cannot make a single one from feet.
I like this article here:
http://www.beastskills.com/AbWheel.htm
I'm trying to find something flat to bridge the gap between my decline crunch bench and the floor.
How would you approach this?
Thanks,

Make sure you are getting low. I try to get horizontal with the floor and really crunch the abs to get up. It can be kind of easy to cheat this exercise.
You didn't say anything about your rest period but I ussually try to keep the rest period short on these.
I like the idea of rolling on 20's. That a good one.

You might have to do some searches online or make a trip to a largish sporting goods store. We're pretty limited on "stores that have stuff" here as well.

ab wheel
i bought an ab wheel yesterday, 9.95. my question is, how often is it ok to do this exercise? i love this thing. i had one problem when i tried to do it on my feet instead of knees, my lower back couldnt support the angle. this is the kind of exercise id find myself doing every day. i realize its core and arms/shoulders, etc...but do i need to not do this on non-lifting days? if you dont have one of these, get one, its great.

The ab wheel is pretty easy to find. The problem is getting the two wheel version so that you can do a single arm rollout like Ross Enamait. He's the only one I've ever seen on video doing the full standing leg roll out in a unilateral fashion.

Used my ab wheel yesterday for the first time and I have to say that is a deceiving little peice of equipment. Much tougher then you think when you start. It dawns on you pretty quickly that your core is going to hate you tommorow!
