You could definitely say the same about Christianity. All religions have an ugly side.
And screaming "God is Great"... kind of non specific. Haven't you ever heard people yell "holy christ!", or "Oh my gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawd" or something of that sort when they're excited/scared?
