SG, if you're a real person, studies have shown that passive-static stretching is actually detrimental to muscle and other connective tissue composition, in adults as well as children (there are materials available at IYCA.org). Active-static stretching, though, is beneficial as it develops flexibility under stress, which is a common dysfunction that results in a lot of non-impact injuries. (/Cliffs Notes)
