We're all looking for a quick fix, even though we know they really don't exist. Even myself, who usually doesn't buy into the 'new discoveries' couldn't help but be interested when I read this one in the newspaper. It probably caught my eye because the hospital in question is nearby, and reputable.

http://www.sickkids.ca/AboutSickKids...the-bulge.html

"Mice were given a short-course (five-day) treatment of anti-CD3 which produced a dramatic reduction in insulin resistance and elevated blood sugar levels, as well as weight loss of about 30 per cent of their body weight. The treatment effects persisted about four to six months in mice. In humans this might translate to several years."

(I resisted the urge to see what requirements for human trials were. The drug in question is one already approved for use in Canada and there was mention that Clinical trials could begin within 12 months.)
