Lessee. Long long ago... no, wait. Strike that.
I've been overweight on and off most of my adult life. I had some success losing a couple different times (WW, Atkins, Jenny Craig - you name it, I've tried it). Currently, I'm about 25 pounds below my highest-ever weight, and I've kept that off for about 18 months. I lost the over-Christmas-bonus-weight in Feb and March, and for the last three months I've been gaining & losing the same five pounds.
I've been realizing that more and more what frustrates me isn't the scale numbers but the flab and lack of fitness, and that if I deal with the flab and fitness, the scales will do their thing. So I'm starting NROL4W next week (when I get back from a brief vacation), and going to see what kind of start that gives me. I always liked lifting more than doing (mindless) cardio, so I'm hoping this is something I can stick to.
I have, give or take, 100 pounds to my current goal (which may be a tad unrealistic if I actually develop some real muscle, but we'll see. ;-) Long way to go before then!) I need to make some realistic fitness goals to go with the somewhat-arbitrary weight goal, but my current ambition is to be in the best shape of my life when I turn 44, which is in about 18 months.
So we'll see....
By day, I do technology consulting, by night I'm a part-time grad student, and I have used being busy as an excuse to stay out of the gym for a long time.
