I am 5'8 and 175lbs. My doctor suggested last year that I start doing cardio regularly because I was borderline in getting high cholestrol. I've been going to the gym about 30 minutes a day / 4-5 times a week doing cardio on a stationary bike.

I work up quite a sweat but I just noticed that different bikes of the same model has different resistances. For example, one bike's resistance 5 would equal another bike's resistance 11. This throws off the calorie meter because I think it calculates how many calories you've burned by the resistance number and the rpm's. For one machine, I burn about 280 - 300 calories in a 30 minute workout according to the calorie meter. On the other machine, I burn about 160 calories.

I've been going to the gym for the past 5 weeks. Since i'm sweating so much, how many calories do you think i'm actually burning in these 30-minute cardio sessions?

Also, I've been eating chicken sandwiches at Burger King a lot. I order it with tomato and no mayo. I've calculated that 4 of these adds up to only 1800 calories. Do you think it's safe to be eating 4 of these a day with no fries and a diet drink if I'm trying to lose weight?
