Sometimes eating quickly digested food (like fruit) on top on food that takes a lot longer (like bread) and the fruit will 'rot' before it is digested properly from being held in the upper stomach too long.

In "Fit for Life" that was a big part of the book, explaining why 'gas' happens and how to avoid it.

For myself, it's important for me not to overlap meals that often, and give each mini-meal a chance to digest before putting more in my stomach. That really does make a big difference.
