Could this be another case of Femoral Anterior Glide syndrome?

The excessive sitting could have contributed to the underlying glute dysfunction. The range of motion limitations in flexion, abduction and external rotation, coupled with the apparent illipsoas tondonitis are both symptoms of the syndrome and it is remarkably popular.

Google that and see if it rings true.
Bill Hartman posted some words of wisdom in terms of rehab a while back.
