I've seen posts from people who've lost fat while putting on muscle with ME, but it's been those who found JUST the right amount of food. They also didn't put on a ton of muscle at the same time, although they did still gain SOME muscle.
In ME reloaded, there's a flowchart to determine when to add/reduce calories. If you're patient and really follow the "rules," you might get there.
Although there are only 4 ME articles, there are a couple of others that are important to read with them: Lean Eatin' I & II and The Science of Nutrient Timing I & II are important, as well.
In addition, Berardi wrote that people who used ME but only ate P+C meals as the two to three meals after a workout sometimes lost fat while gaining muscle.
