good question lisa! running a 13 miler for training and racing a 13.1 mile race are each different events, and the same thing with running a 26 mile training run and racing a 26.2 mile race. today was a training run, so we run much slower than we could run if we were going at race pace. my half marathon race pace at my current fitness would be 8:59 pace or around an hour 57 min for the half. my current fitness for a marathon would be 9:29 pace or around 4 hours and 8 min. our training pace today was between 11 min and 11 :30 pace which is perfect, because I should be training 2 minutes slower than my predicted marathon pace for long runs. with the 91 degree heat and high humidity today, 11 min pace is booking it.
