So, this is my training log! Yeigh. I'm so happy that this forum is going strong. I first saw NROL at LiveStrong, a nice site, but way too focussed on calorie restriction in my opinion. (You have to pay extra for a bunch of the fitness capabilities!)
I did my first workout today, was a little underimpressed with my ability to do pushups, but hey, I've got to start somewhere. Here's the poop:
Warm-up: 10 minutes on eliptical, did 8 reps each of all exercises at 75% weight where possible.
Stage 1, Workout A
Squat
W1: 2 Sets, 15 Reps, 5lbsX2 (Will do more weight next time, this was actually too easy)
Pushup
2 Sets, 15 Reps, 45 degree kind
Seated Row
2 Sets, 15 Reps 45lbs
Step-up
2 Sets, 15 Reps, 15lbsX2
Prone Jack Knife
2 Sets, 8 Reps (felt like a frickin' idiot doing this one!)
Notes: I feel sore already, which is great! I think! My challenge as I continue to do this is going to be making myself pick up the heavy weights and being willing to look like a complete fool during my workouts. Also not being intimidated by all the huge dudes working out at my gym. The free weight is definitely the domain of the BLGs (big loud guys) at my gym.
My current weight is 131. My goal is 118. I recently had a BMI scan done and it was 26.7%, which is more than the online calculators project for my height, this may mean I just have a smaller frame, not sure. It would make sense.
My Mom who's always been thin looks like she could fall down a storm drain if she's not too careful. I've always been overweight though, so I don't really know what's "under there."
I lost a ton of weight (25 lbs!) just by running two miles everyday. It was a great start, but I've sort of fallen out of practice, regained some of the weight and I'm looking for a new way to engage myself. I really see this as a sustainable life change. I hope to keep lifting in some way indefinitely.
I've always actually liked the idea of weight training, but have just felt too intimidated to do it. I'm completely psyched about this program though.
