See if you can find a good used VitaMix on eBay. They won't be super cheap even there, but they are GOOD blenders. A good older model is the Maxi-4000. My first one lasted 20 years with frequent, nearly daily use doing exactly what you want... making smoothies with ice, frozen fruit, spinach, etc... and a protein source.
