Default Soccer okay, but no squats?

I tore my patellar tendon, acl, and some meniscus playing soccer (foot got stuck as I was cutting inside).

I had two surgeries a month apart: first to reattach the patellar tendon, second to reconstruct acl.

It's been two weeks since the second surgery. Rehab is going well.

I am talking to my surgeon and he tells me: "We'll get back to playing soccer, but you can forget about lifting weights - especially squatting."

Does this make sense?

I am just a measly trainer/enthusiast, but I always thought that impact force from say landing after jumps in a sport is greater than that of a squat. Much greater?

Or am I missing something?
