Sounds like you've come a long way on your journey. You're correct in thinking that leading by example is the best way to get people to do likewise. Seeing marked changes in you will most likely at least suggest the idea to your mom that she could do it too.
Kudos on being up front with your primary goal. While health is important, I think vanity on some level is a bigger motivator.
Given your nickname, and the fact you seem to have read Herbert and Dickens, I'm guessing you write, either for a living or for yourself?
Btw, Clothing OPTional is a for the win log title.

While back Leigh held an impromptu "contest" on the Fit Cast for a free FLTS package if people wrote in their transformation wishes. She wound up drawing names and I lucked out.
Dickens reference? Either I'm smarter than I thought and included one unknowingly or that was a knock on my verbosity.
Actually, haven't yet read Dune. I just remember the quote from an episode of Earthworm Jim when Peter Puppy quoted it. My brother later informed me of the source. It's on my to-read-sometime list, though, since I'm told I'd probably enjoy it.
Writing is a hobby. Dream the impossible dream and all that of writing fiction full time, but honestly that's kinda difficult when I haven't been doing it in a long while. Been too busy converting to Leighism.
And yes, I do have enough deep-seated acceptance issues to seriously consider restarting a log under a name more likely to garner traffic. We'll see!
