GI is really meaningless when it comes to weight loss. You take a high GI food and eat it with a little fat and protein and voila it is no longer "high GI". Very few people eat meals comprised of just one type of food so unless you have meals where you only eat say a plate of rice or pasta or gummy bears then no need to worry about GI.
