Default lat pulldown

Oops! Now I see that and do remember reading it now! My former trainer set me up with some home exercises. He has my doing pull-ups with a broom laid across two chairs. I can just lift my upper body off the floor a few inches. Today I managed 3 sets of 12 reps. Is that a good alternative?
