I've heard that bits of lactose can get into whey products, more likely in concentrate than in isolate? But if you can eat regular dairy no problem, then maybe not.

Is there any chance it's just a protein bomb reaction? I'm a little new to protein powders myself, but even one scoop (whey) in a drink packs quite a wallop on me. I feel kind of bloated, and I can plow through dairy like a rock star. It's not dissimilar to the discomfort I felt after eating a giant turkey leg (waaay too much protein). What happens if you eat a large serving of raw meat?

You can try rice, pea, egg, beef, or soy proteins. I know truprotein.com has a variety (haven't bought from them personally).
