Well ... if you're a lot overweight like me ... loosing those inches is probably a good thing. My theory would be that the gained muscle in calves and arms weighs about the same as the fat you lost with the increase just being water.
Disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm talking about but you asked for theories.
As an aside, I'm hoping I can accomplish my goals without having to resort to calorie counting. I really don't want to do that.
