Your muscles repair when you rest. More training isn't always better. We all want to work out every day and get in amazing shape in 2 months. It doesn't work out like that. Listen to your body, and take rest days when you need them. A well fed and well slept 22 year old will recover better than an over-worked, under slept 45 year old.

Be smart, and take it day by day.

Booze effects recovery a lot too, so don't expect killer workouts the day after a late night out with friends.

(For what it is worth, I find myself needing extra rest days if I work out too many days in a row, and I am a well-fed, well rested 28 year old. I tend to be able to kill it 4-5 days a week, but if I go more than that, my progress slows down due to under-recovery)
