For the most part, these are full body workouts so the upper/lower scheme giving you the extra rest on the other working day does not apply as much.

If A B rest A B rest rest works for you, it will be fine, if not, switch to a MWF scheme. or A B rest A rest B rest perhaps.

You can workout 2,3 or 4 times a week as I recall, but he doesn't want you to do more than 2 in a row.

If there is an A/B scheme, then yes, you alternate A & B in your workouts - so if 3x a week, ABA followed by a BAB week is correct.

as far as break-in goes - do what feels right to you. If you want to lift 3-4 times a week because you're used to being in the gym and lifting with compound lifts there's nothing wrong with that. Just lift heavy enough on the high rep sets so that you really are getting a workout.
