If you get into a situation like this where the gym is full and you need to use DB's for squats, I would suggest goblet squats because it shouldn't effect your grip as much. If you think goblet squats aren't an efficient replacement for the regular barbell on the back squats....try them with a 100 pound DB and let me know how they feel.
