Not only is NA$CAR suffering due to the economy, but as a result of years of corporate greed. NA$CAR as an organization has their hands in everybody's pocket driving up the cost of tickets, concessions and souvenirs. If they were serious, they would reduce the sanction fees they charge to tracks that run races and reduce the kickback from merchandise sales with their logo on it. I have yet to hear a peep from anybody related to that.
As far as the teams, the super teams have been coming for a few years and forging relationships is just another way the owners are skirting the 4 team cap. It's all about big business and money. The fans are getting left behind and the racing lacks any emotion.
