Default Survival tools

I think I would make a list of very handy survival tools. Not just the leathermans but light weight axes or saws to help build shelters in the back country. I do a lot of hiking and hunting right from my front door . Im less than a mile as the crow flies from Mt Skokomish wilderness area and less than 4 from Staircase Olympic National Park. Too many trails and personal routes to cover here. Im OUT THERE at least three times a week. Always carry the ability to make fire is rule one. Bring snacks with you even if your only going out for a couple hours excersise rule two. Always keep minimal shelter with you such as Plastic sheeting or ponch to keep rain snow and sun off you if you end up unexpectantly spending the night. Always carry a good knife or multi tool even if just going to the store, its a good habit to get into. If you have time check out the essays and forums at Kifaru.net. Its all about the back country.
