I know I feel bad about not wanting them there. I am sure they see me as the same...just another newbie. But I had started to recognize a lot of the same people and have definitely seen some new faces the past few days.

I totally feel you re: the crowded gym. It will be my first workout back tonight and I am not looking forward to it (well, the workout, yes, but the crowds, no )

Thanks! Same to you.

They'll be gone soon... I feel bad in some ways, but it's just a fact.

Yeah the leaving of the plates on stuff has been a little annoying. I take it as a sign that someone is still using it for a set....so I wait and see if anyone comes back.

I belong to one of those Anytime Fitness gyms. We usually workout around 9 a.m. and for the most part have the place to ourselves. I hope that trend continues!
Happy New Year!

I would love to workout in the middle of the day. I have all the equipment I need at home, so if its ridiculous these next few weeks I can still get the workouts done.

I am really glad I have been able to do all my workouts with the stuff I have at home because I can only imagine how crowded the gym will be. The funny thing is, I went to this yoga studio on New Year's Day and again today and I was thinking people are probably resenting me too as a "resolutioner." I am going to see how it goes for a couple months and possibly quit the gym altogether so I can spend the money at the yoga place.

Thanks! I have stuff I need at home too - except a treadmill so its tough to get those cardio and intervals sessions in without the gym for now. I go outside in a heartbeat when I can, but winter here now is pretty bad. Lots of ice and snow on the roads and the temps are just too cold for me. I will still go out if its in the 20's, but that hasn't happened much lately!
Today:
Treadmill - 5 min warm up then 6x 1 min @ 8 mph, 1 min @ 5 mph, then 20 minutes jogging, then 30 minutes walking. So an hour total. My HR monitor said 547 cals burned.

I have been doing a lot of reading of logs and goals today and I have decided to start a new log. I want to give it my all in 2009 and think a clean slate is in order! And I saw some others (Kara, Bytsi) start new ones and that inspired me.
So I will be back with a link.
Also, I wanted to share my sentiments with all who have followed this log and been so supportive. I thank my lucky stars almost everyday that I found this board. Everyone here is so wonderful - its a great community. I haven't made the amazing progress that some here have, but I finally feel like I have the knowledge I need to succeed from this point on.
Here are some of my accomplishments for 2008:
1. completed NROL4W
2. lost over ten pounds from June-November, and for the first time in my life had clothes that were too big for me
3. increased strength in everything:
-push ups from 1 to sets of 15
-back squat from 65 (or less?) to sets of 115
-deadlift from 50 to sets of 135
-overhead press from 10 # db's to 30 # db's
-chin ups from zero to 4
4. gained the knowledge I need to succeed
5. found new confidence in my new strength
6. finally learned that working out is not a pass to eat anything
7. finally learned just how much I was overeating and how my notions of my "healthy" eating were so far off
8. finally learned that I do not need to run longer and farther to lose weight and running alone will not help me lose weight
Thats it for beesknees NROL4W log!
