Who gave you the impression that you should avoid fruit? If you're getting down to the last few percent on a good cut then cutting out the fruit might be beneficial. I don't see any problem whatsoever eating a banana per day on a bulking diet. I eat a banana for breakfest even when I'm dropping fat.
