I agree about the protein. Supplements are optional. Try to get all you need from foods. The only exception is PWO. Liquid protein gets absorbed and digested faster, so PWO, it is good.
Creatine is optional, as well, but I say take it, newbie or veteran. No reason to wait. It's cheap, too.
I take 3 grams per day, in my AM coffee on non-workout days, and immediately PWO on my workout days.
