Default Pain in the ankle

I'm training for a tri, and on Sunday I did a brick where I biked 18 miles, put away my bike and within one minute was out running. (10 minute mile pace... maybe I should call it jogging!) For the first mile my ankles hurt. Maybe not my ankle per se... it was in front, right where the bend is where my leg becomes my foot. (Does that make any sense?) It hurt for about a mile then went away. I was thinking of a few possibilities and thought I'd ask y'all here for input:

1. Just a factor of getting off the bike and transitioning to a run.
2. My shoes aren't the proper ones for me. (I neither pronate nor supinate and have very neutral shoes.)

Any other thoughts?
