Default Which one would you buy?

I'm leaning towards the Jamis (assuming once I ride it, it fits well) but can't figure out why the bike shop owner, who sells both, is pushing me towards Trek and told me that if he can't get the right thing in Trek, THEN he'll look at Jamis. He even told me you get more for your $$ in Jamis, "But we're a Trek shop, and we try to sell them first." WTF?
