Hey, thanks, everyone! I'm feeling a lot better this evening, just a bit of aches left. (Nope, definitely not overtraining -- just some sort of stupid bug.)

Oh, and, yes, we made it through the tornadoes just fine. Had some nearby action but nothing on top of our heads. Whew!

This afternoon, I walked s.l.o.w.l.y. for about 2 hours. Then, it was an overcast, cool day, only in the 70s with an almost-chilly breeze. Between that and reading Wendy's Chicago marathon story, I got a bad hankering for a run. Unfortunately, storms have been threatening most of the day and I had several errands to run so I was stuck with the treadmill -- and after the kiddos bedtime at that.

I did 5 minute warm up (split between 3 and 3.5 mph), followed by a 20 minute run at a steady 5 mph (no walk splits), wrapped up with 5 minutes walking at 3.5 mph. Treadmill says my total was about 2 1/4 miles.

It felt so freaking great!! I wanted to keep (and easily could have kept) going for longer -- had to force myself to get off the treadmill. LOL I wasn't even winded and that was so cool, considering I've only done like, what? Three really short runs this year? Yeah, it was only 5 mph but I'm a slow runner anyway. Man, I so want to get more into running again.

While I was on the treadmill, I traipsed down memory lane. I used to run my PT tests in the military with a cigarette hanging out of my mouth the entire time. Such a smartass, I was! My last (civilian) race was right before I met hubby. It was a 10k in northern Illinois (CornFest, anyone?) in August or so. My dad has been a racer (marathoner, triatholoner, etc) for years and he was on the committee for this particular fun 10k so I got sucked into volunteering as morale booster or some such. I ran the entire thing in a full-body furry rabbit suit, complete with ears -- back and forth, back and forth, in circles around people to cheer them up and spur them on. It was fun and I didn't die and I MISS being able to do that kind of stuff.

So I think I might put an effort into a bit more running again. Don't mind me, I'm just thinking out loud here...
