karla, one of the best things I ever did for myself and my food demons was start therapy in january 2003 with a therapist who specializes in eating issues. I have been going every two weeks since, and it has totally transformed my relationship with food.
and it is the reason why my progress is so slow--cutting calories for me is rather dangerous. i have to do that very slowly over time, or else I set up the tendency to overeat.
