Like the guys have previously said, it depends on your goals. Obviously, you should eat because you don't want to be stuck in a catabolic state. In defense of fast food, I eat triple whoppers all the time. I want to be as massive as possible, and a triple whopper is a godsend. Getting in around 4k to 5k of calories is not easy, and without fast food it would be an even harder thing to do.
That does not mean I live on fast food. I'm not going to munch on donuts, candy and fast food all day long and expect to see any worthwhile gains (unless your goal is total fatness).
Nevertheless, there is nothing greater in this world than a burger that can supply me with 1,230 calories and 71 grams of protein.
