I'd like to comment further on the fact that we are talking about rats. I do believe that sodas might make you think your hungry whn you are not. Sodium dehydrates you and dehydration often takes the form of "hunger," or at least that's what our bodies think. But there are a lot of foods that have that effect and as humans, we have enough cognitive ability to know the difference between real hunger and perceived hunger. It's just something you have to work on. On the other hand, rats are just going off of instinct. The only thing the study shows to me is that soda dehydrates you. But we knew that already didn't we. Also, notice that the rats got fatter because they were eating more, not solely because of the soda. If soda makes you hungry, then either fight the urge to eat or just don't drink soda.
