Susan, assuming you're real (and I have no reason to doubt that you aren't), I will say that you have cajones for coming into an obvious hostile environment to debate your case. So props to you on that.
Regarding your subject matter, I know that P-man has no "credentials" but so far he has made a much better argument for his position (once I eliminate both of your back and forth insults, which I request to stop on all sides!). If you are relying simply on the fact that you have a PhD, that in and of itself is a fallacious appeal to authority.
The PhD isn't supposed to grant you final authority... It's supposed to mean that you have completed course-work and mastered the language of your chosen craft, which also means that you should be able to easily support your own claims as you should have all sorts of supporting research. It's not a religion, so your world view should not be threatened if presented with better or more up to date research. If anything, your background should make you dispassionate about any data presented.
