Unfortunately, this is probably how tons of people do a deadlift, since they don't know how a proper deadlift needs to be done.
Boy, I was LIVID when I got told by my new bf (now partner) that I was doing my DL all wrong. Not angry at him, but at the staff in my gym who never corrected me on bad form, but instead preferred yakking to clientele doing cardio.
This is what happens: people THINK they do things right, but instead of being corrected they just keep doing what they do and then after they've done it wrong for long enough are convinced their (wrong) ways are the right one. And get mad at someone who finally tells them they are doing it all wrong... SINCE NOBODY EVER SAID ANYTHING.
If anything gets me mad is people laughing behind their hands at how bad others do things in a gym and then NOT correct the wrongdoers.. assuming they are just dumbasses that can't be corrected. They've never been corrected in the first place.
This is a major pet peeve of mine.
Frankly, another one is how these same people don't want to hear they are doing things wrong. At least, not from me...instead they prefer their own wrong ways as they assume gym staff will tell if they do anything wrong.Sigh...
What's wrong with being told you're doing something wrong and being offered a better way? It doesn't make you dumb or something... I'm grateful for corrections, as long as they are perceived as meaningful.
